An opportunity has arisen for a highly capable, organised and values-driven business manager to strengthen the national arts and cultural development sector.
The ideal candidate has professional experience working with First Nations Peoples, cultures and communities, particularly in remote and regional environments.
This person will support our small team through its next phase of growth and evolution.
If you are passionate about managing the business of a dynamic arts company with national reach and impact, this role is for you. This position supports Tura’s executive partnership, which is made up of the Executive Producer/ Director (EP/D) and Artistic Director/CEO. The Business Development Manager reports directly to the EP/D.
Under the guidance of the executive partnership, the position requires engagement and communication with a range of First Nations collaborators and diverse stakeholders, contractors, service providers and partners across Australia.
The Business Manager position is central to Tura’s operations. This includes managing general business, cultural and operational governance, organisational plans, systems and compliance. This person will be responsible for financial reporting, grant development and funding acquittals, supporting human resources and the team’s project management and documentation of artistic programs.
Qualifications and Experience
Proven business management experience in the community cultural development sector and/or the creative industries, including with First Nations artists and community organisations.
Tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience in either arts/business management/ business development/project development.
Knowledge, understanding of, and respect for, First Nations people and cultures, including cultural protocols and governance obligations including Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP).
Track record in open and effective communication in co-building a positive and productive team culture.
Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
High-level computer skills, sound working knowledge of administrative procedures and practice and budget management.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills with fellow employees, intercultural creatives, remote and regional community stakeholders, corporate leaders and government – at all levels.
Highly developed strategic and analytical capacity, with the ability to develop practical and forward-thinking operational plans and solutions.
Strong time-management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, multi-task and work under pressure.
Attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
Be enthusiastic, proactive, decisive, flexible and self-motivated.
Ability to learn and effectively use various software and systems as required.
Salary and category
Range of $100,000 - $110,000 + 11.5% superannuation
Fixed term contract (two years), with potential to extend. Six-month probation period.
