Tura Celebrates Recognition at the 2025 Art Music Awards

The annual Art Music Awards presented by APRA AMCOS in conjunction with the Australian Music Centre (AMC), recognise outstanding achievement in the composition, performance, education, and presentation of Australian music. The 2025 Awards were held on Thursday 21 August at City Recital Hall, Gadigal land.

Honouring Jon Rose and Hollis Taylor

Tura's Artistic Director Tos Mahoney was honoured to present the Richard Gill Award for Distinguished Services to Australian Music on behalf of APRA AMCOS and AMC to long-time Tura collaborator Jon Rose and Hollis Taylor. Jon accepted the award on the pair's behalf.

From The Wild Violin residencies in Warmun and Lombadina, to Sounds Outback at Wogarno Station, and large-scale installations such as The Wreck and The Big Ball Project, Jon and Hollis have continually expanded the boundaries of music and sound. This prestigious national honour acknowledges their decades of artistic innovation, sonic exploration, and commitment to music-making.

Tactus Wins Work of the Year

Congratulations also to Kate Milligan, whose work Tactusperformed by Jonty Coy and produced by Tura - received Work of the Year: Electroacoustic/Sound Art. Commissioned through the APRA AMCOS Art Music Fund, Tactus is an evocative audio-visual work for renaissance flute and electronics, created in collaboration with video designer Olivia Davies and HIP Company.
