Tura acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians and Traditional Custodians of the lands where we live, learn and create. We pay our respects to Elders past and present. With solidarity and friendship we say thank you.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are advised that the Tura website contains names, images and voices of people who have passed away.
STRUT in association with Tura will host a laboratory by choreographer, movement researcher and club culture celebrator Michele Rizzo in which will culminate in performances in the PERTH MOVES Hub in Perth Festival 2024.
Tura will commission a Boorloo (Perth) based composer / musician / electronic artist to work with Rizzo creating a new sound score for the work as part of Perth Moves.
The work will be performed in the State Theatre Centre of WA Courtyard as part of Perth Moves. A laboratory with Rizzo will act as a development period for the creation of the score and the work itself.
Applicants should have an interest in club music and an understanding of the ways this music can be deconstructed and referenced in non-literal ways through sampling, and differing composition techniques. Rhythm and beat in all forms should be a key element of the composer's work, as well as the ability to experiment with long form development. This opportunity is open to composers, instrumentalists and electronic musicians alike.
Interested or know someone who will be? Expressions of Interest are now open.
